Sadly B41 has just left Tarija. This post is a shout out to them: Julia Milne (Chicago, Il), Emelia Hurley (Reston, Va), Winston Harrell (South Boston, Va), Steve Cooper (upstate NY), and Shelby Tracy (Texas). They
have mostly lived to the south of Tarija city and collectively have worked on projects including: teaching English, building an internet cafe, building a miniature golf course out of recyclables, building bathrooms, working with orphans, working with womens groups, and working with bees and honey!
I don’t
pretend to know or be able to list all that B41 has done here in Tarija, but they will surely be missed.
Luckily Julia Milne and Emelia Hurley will be staying on for a few more months; Julia to be our PC volunteer leader and help out in our regional office and
Emelia to finish her bathroom project.
We threw a small party or despedida for B41, to say goodbye and
my fabulous German friends were nice enough to use us as guinea pigs for their new micro-brew – complete with tap!! It was a fun send off – those of us
staying will miss them and our most recent PCV leader Erin Wheelis
– they’ve been a great addition to our Tarija family and we hope they enjoy their transition back to life in the US!
