Who doesn’t love having  visitors? In the past two years I’ve been blessed to have a few adventure lovers make the journey – for which I am extremely grateful! My brother’s sister and Army and my favorite Aunt Betty-Jo and her wonderful prince charming – Andy Laidlaw celebrated this past Easter here in Bolivia!

We rode at Los Corceles Betty Jo and Cassandra– Elke and Capitan’s beautiful farm and had the chance to sample some of Elke’s amazing cooking (Dad still says the best meal he had in Bolivia was from Elke’s kitchen!).

I’ve written about the farm before – but as BJ said the pictures hardly do it justice. Betty Jo and Elke hit it off like long lost sistersElke & BJ at lunchand Capitan (whom I affectionately refer to as McGuiver for his handy man skills) and Andy hit it off chatting about all sorts of McGuiver like topics Capitan, Elke, BJ, Andythat I wasn’t really able to follow.

Unfortunately, BJ and Andy didn’t have that much time down here – but we taught an English class on how to color Easter eggs (see following post) – had tea with the nuns and in general just enjoyed our time together.

Thank you Aunt B and Andy – your visit was incredibly special. As I near the end of my service, more and more folks from home ask me how I plan to explain this experience to others. Every volunteer faces this challenge as they prepare to return to the US – and it will be difficult, but thank you so much for sharing a bit of this adventure with me.SC & Elke with Rembrandt
