Marathons . . . 26.2 miles . . . 42 kilometers they’re rather funny things – and at the outset the whole idea seems pretty crazy doesn’t it?
I seem to have some teammates who are addicted to them, I wouldn’t have necessarily called Tracy Weickel
(a teammate from college and very successful marathoner) a sadist – but on my 20 mile training runs the thought definitely crossed my mind.
The training is what seems so brutal – for all the hours we put in working out and practicing for lacrosse in college I rarely spent 4 hours straight up running. So please forgive the excitement and extra pictures of before the race.
Team Tarija (Winston Harrell, Sarah Anderson, and myself) traveled down to Buenos Aires, Argentina early in November. I don’t mind admitting that it was exciting checking in
– getting our bibs – seeing the clock counting down ‘til race time!
The night before the race we snuggled:
. . . we posed
in our new team shirts
. . . ok . . . so we posed multiple times
!! We hugged
. . . and we ate GREAT family pasta dinner
!!
A special shout out goes to Janice McKinney for helping us get these awesome shirts! One shirt has our nick-names on the front and “Team Tarija” forever on the back. The other shirt says “26.2 miles . . . it’s just a number” and the back is the same.
Janice you’re fabulous for all your love and support!
